the Louppe app
Louppe is an independent macOS app made by Alex Markin. it has no account, advertising, app analytics, or tracking SDK. Alex does not receive your media, review decisions, or usage history from the app
your files and review data
Louppe reads the folders you choose to show previews, play media, inspect metadata, and help you review files. duplicate and similarity analysis runs on your Mac. it does not upload your media to Alex or a cloud analysis service
decisions, star ratings, color labels, filenames, and file identity information are saved in .louppe_session.json inside the folder you opened, with a local session backup in Louppe’s Application Support data. requested XMP sidecars and exported files are written to the locations you choose
preferences and recent folder paths are stored locally. sandboxed builds also retain macOS folder-access bookmarks for locations you select. thumbnail caches speed up review, and local file-operation journals record paths and progress so interrupted work can be recovered. recovery destination access is retained while an interrupted operation may need it
retention and your control
session sidecars, backups, preferences, and cached previews may remain after you close or uninstall Louppe. sidecars and exports stay in their saved locations until you remove them. you can remove local app data through macOS; doing so may remove saved review decisions or recovery information. thumbnail caches are also pruned by Louppe, and completed operation journals are removed
Louppe’s default export copies files. moving, renaming, organizing, writing XMP, and sending files to Trash happen only through the corresponding actions you choose. if you work in a cloud-synced or shared folder, that service may sync the files and sidecars under its own settings and privacy policy
updates and Apple resources
the direct-download app uses Sparkle to check for updates and download releases from GitHub. these requests expose normal connection information, such as your IP address, to the host. Louppe does not enable Sparkle’s optional system profiling. automatic checks can be turned off in Louppe’s Updates settings. Mac App Store builds use Apple’s update system and do not include Sparkle
if you select an Apple RAW decoder that needs on-demand model resources, macOS may download those resources from Apple. decoding runs on your Mac. Apple manages those downloads under Apple’s privacy policy
contacting Alex
contact and feedback links open your email app. nothing is sent until you send the message yourself. Alex receives your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to include, and uses them to respond and investigate your request. email providers handle delivery
correspondence is kept for follow-up and resolving the issue. contact a@alex-markin.com to ask about, correct, or request deletion of information you have sent. do not send private media unless you want Alex to receive it
the louppe.eu website
GitHub Pages hosts this website. GitHub receives page requests and logs visitors’ IP addresses for security, even when optional analytics is rejected. see GitHub’s privacy statement for its retention and processing practices
Google Analytics is loaded only after you choose “allow analytics” on the HTTPS production site. it measures page views, referring pages, browser and device information, approximate location, and download-link clicks. a click records download intent; it does not confirm installation or report activity inside Louppe. Google signals and advertising personalization are disabled
Google receives analytics requests under Google’s privacy policy. the _ga and _ga_* cookies are set to expire after 30 days without extending that lifetime. your analytics choice is saved in your browser’s local storage for 180 days. if storage is unavailable, the choice may last only for the current visit
use “analytics choices” in the footer to reject or withdraw consent at any time. withdrawal disables further collection across open Louppe website tabs and clears the site’s analytics cookies. it does not delete analytics data already received by Google. local previews do not load analytics
downloads, source links, and donation links take you to external services with their own privacy policies. this website has no account, media upload, or embedded contact form
